CHICAGO Boleros for the Disenchanted, the “breathtakingly poetic” and profound look at marriage, written by Academy Award nominee José Rivera and directed by Henry Godinez, Resident Artistic Associate for Goodman Theatre, is the opening performance in Vision Films’ internet TV series, Backstage @ the Goodman: Boleros for the Disenchanted.

Backstage @ The Goodman is an Internet TV Documentary Series that follows Godinez’ artistic process as he directs Boleros for one of Chicago’s long‐time cultural icons, Goodman Theatre.

A Good Backstage Production, a subsidiary of Vision Films, will create a series of six to 8, 22‐minute episodes which will give viewers unprecedented access into the planning and artistry that makes a theatrical performance come to life.

From the initial meetings through casting, wardrobe, set design and rehearsals, all the hard work, challenges, and successes will be documented for viewers throughout the world in this online weekly show.

With this project, the Goodman is pioneering its outreach efforts into the Latino community by harnessing the power of the Internet. This medium allows for a greater means of engaging its audience and increasing awareness of the theatre and the arts through blogs, social media, message boards and forums.

Executive Producer, Johnny Arreola, who introduced the concept to the Goodman with the help of Mr. Godinez, said, “Our main objective is that Backstage @ the Goodman will entice viewers of all ages around the world to become more familiar with the arts on a medium whose viewership is growing at an increasing rate…the internet.”

Vision Films and the Goodman have been excited to collaborate on this pioneering series which provided an opportunity for us to reach the Latino community,” Mr. Godinez said. “We felt it was a good fit. It is one of the fastest‐growing demographics in the United States, and its diverse and creative people have traditionally had a passion for the arts.”

Boleros for the Disenchanted is a bittersweet and ultimately uplifting story about the everyday reality of marriage and the often‐undignified struggle to hold on to love in the face of life’s unexpected challenges.

Backstage @ the Goodman will launch a new episode every week starting with its July 19th premiere. Visit www.backstageatthegoodman.com.
